Rep. Jim Soletski candidacy re-election announcement focuses on need for effective leadership in the Assembly

Jim Soletski, State Representative of the 88th District, announced his candidacy for re-election Sunday, June 1st, at the Labor Temple in Green Bay. Approximately 100 area Democrats showed up to sign nomination papers and hear Soletski’s announcement. Congressman Steven Kagen, State Senator Dave Hansen, and 90th District Assembly candidate LuAnn Weix spoke in support of Soletski. Brown County Supervisor Adam Warpinski, and District 7 Alderwomen Celestine Jeffreys  were also in attendance.

Soletski discussed the inability of the majority party to effectively run the Assembly and lead our state. Soletski also discussed the importance of taking the Assembly back. “We met for 25 of 65 scheduled days, however I spent over 90 days in Madison last year meeting with constituents and attending Committee meetings and sessions; I never missed a vote or a session in the Assembly,” Soletski said.

Soletski discussed his commitment to affordable healthcare. “Senator Hansen and I have fought hard to save Senior Care and make healthcare for all of Wisconsin residents a reality,” Soletski said. Soletski continued by discussing his support of women’s rights; Soletski said, “I have supported, and will continue to support, women’s health programs. I have also supported the Equal Pay for Equal Work bill.”

In addition to affordable healthcare and equal rights, Soletski examined the ineffective way in which the majority party attempted to pass and appropriately spend the Wisconsin budget. “Last year, the state budget was over four months late to pass,” Soletski began, “The Assembly Republican leadership and my opponent are against public education, healthcare, and tax relief for the poorest citizens in Wisconsin. At the same time they managed to spend the entire budget of fifty-eight billion dollars without delivering to the neediest members of society.”

The next event in support of Soletski will be Monday June 16th at The Bar on Lime Kiln Road between 5:00pm and 7:00pm. This will be a fundraising event with a suggested donation of $35 per person. Beer and food will be provided.
