Environment

Wisconsin is proud of its beautiful landscapes, expansive northern forests and bountiful water resources. Balancing preservation of our resources for future generations while using those resources for recreation, tourism, and economic growth is a difficult challenge that we must meet.

We have had a wealth of intelligent, strong willed leaders willing to stand up to that task. Aldo Leopold, Gaylord Nelson and Warren Knowles bring to mind the past efforts to preserve and protect our natural resources. I am committed to standing up to the task of protecting Wisconsin’s natural resources.

We have recently passed the Great Lakes Compact with seven other states and two provinces of Canada. This compact will safeguard and preserve our Great Lakes from possible raiding of this valuable resource by the dry states of the southeast and southwest.
