Welcome!

Representative Jim Soletski was elected to the Assembly in 2006. He has worked tirelessly in Madison and the 88th to ensure that his constituents get the best return possible for their tax dollars. He has a sound common sense approach to Energy, Education, the Economy, the Environment and Healthcare.

Jim was born and raised in the Green Bay area. He worked in the electrical power industry for over 33 years before his retirement in 2006. When Jim retired he couldn’t stop working.  He saw the representation for the 88th was not serving the District’s best interest, but rather the interest of a few.  Jim decided to run for the 88th to represent his neighbors across the District.  It was a tough road of getting out there, knocking on doors, listening to the concerns of the constituents of the 88th. In his 2006 campaign he had very little money for his campaign and was outspent by his longtime incumbent opponent by more than 5 to 1. Jim’s campaign covered more than 12,000 doors. Jim heard the message from the residents of the 88th. They wanted good, common sense approaches to addressing their concerns, not party line voting. Jim heard the message from the District loud and clear. His determination to better serve his District kept him knocking on those doors and resulted in his winning his bid to represent the 88th District in the State Assembly. In his first term, he worked hard and got results for his constituents. Jim’s upbringing, long residency on Menlo Park Drive, and his strong work ethic have been the foundation of his leadership in Madison.

Before being elected to the State Assembly, he served as a St. Bernard Day School parent volunteer for over a decade, as the Parish Council Member-Liaison to the Board of Education, and has been Parish Council Vice President since 2001. He is active in the St. Bernard JOSHUA Core Committee and the JOSHUA Immigration Committee. JOSHUA is a faith based social justice group in the Green Bay area allied with the state-wide WISDOM organization.  Jim is also a member of the Brown County Corrections Board. In the Assembly, Soletski serves on the Energy and Utilities, Small Business, and Tourism, Recreation, and State Properties Committees. He has two adult daughters.
